Our Services

GBU advocates for the rights of all blind persons of this country. Additionally, the GBU provides service to blind and partially sighted persons of Ghana in the following areas:

  • Training in Information Communication Technology (ICT); the use of Computers, smart phones victor streams and other assistive devices.
  • Facilitate the Creation of sustainable employment ventures for BLIND AND PARTIALLY SIGHTED persons.
  • Advocacy and services to enhance quality education for BLIND AND PARTIALLY SIGHTED persons.
  • Community-based Rehabilitation services
  • Empowerment and leadership training
  • Orientation and Mobility; Provision and training in the use of white canes.
  • Advocacy for the provision of educational equipment for BLIND AND PARTIALLY SIGHTED persons.
  • Eye clinic services for the prevention of blindness.
  • Sports for BLIND AND PARTIALLY SIGHTED persons.

Our Goals

GBU advocates for the rights of all blind persons of this country. Additionally, the GBU provides service to blind and partially sighted persons of Ghana in the following areas:

  • Introduction of ICT for BPS persons in Ghana. In line with this, GBU set up the first Assistive Technology Centre for BPS persons in Ghana. Today, in collaboration with the Special Education Division of Ghana Education Service and three universities, computer training centres have been set up in 11 educational institutions in various parts of the country.
  • Partnering with the Special Education Division of Ghana Education Service to spearhead the development and implementation of the national Inclusive Education Policy
  •  Establishment of Ghana Materials Resource Centre; This provides assistive devices for persons with various disabilities.
  • Introduction and training in the use of the tactile voting system. This allows BPS persons to vote independently and secretly in national/general elections.
  • Facilitating the self-employment of BPS persons in sustainable economic ventures in selected districts.
  •  The establishment of the “White Canes for All project”. This project seeks to provide canes for those blind persons who are not able to afford one for themselves.
